I know I'm like 2 years too late for the conversation...but I too have been taking Follistim for five days now and had u/s and b/w done today CD7. My u/s showed 7 follies L: 1@9mm, 1@11mm R: 2@9mm, 2@11mm = 6 total follies. I've have PCOS so my RE has been cautious and I've been taking 150iu. Just for tonight I'm to take 225iu to step it up a notch over the weekend and then return for u/s and b/w on Monday. I'm on Follistim for about 8-10days so that gives me about 3-5 more days - we'll see how it goes! GROW FOLLIES GROW!!!
Thanks for sharing all your stories - if you have a chance, I'd love to hear any updates!

I am now 40 and my husband I have been trying for 6 years. we're now ready to proceed with our first IUI. All the tests came back with no fertility issues. My doc says even though I am 40, because of my 4.4 AMH level and my husbands high seman count, we can try IUI at our age. I'm going in for my ultrasound and bloodwork in about a week and if everything looks ok, we're ready to proceed with the shots. We're both very excited, nervous and scared. Praying for all of you ladies out there and I hope you will do the same for us. Keep the faith and hope. My sister-in-law suceeded with her first IUI. She's now 11 weeks pregnant.

My first IUI attempt...
Background: I'm 41 with older eggs, doc says about 10-20% are good eggs, with no other known physical reason for infertility. We tried naturally for the past 3 1/2 years, using Clomid for a three months. Naturally, we had one pregnancy with miscarraige at 6 weeks. No other previous pregnancies.
With the fertility doctor, we used Femara, we could see that all of the hormone levels were right, see when the eggs were ready, and time everything perfectly. US tech saw 2 follicles, the doc said one looked great. Used a trigger shot. IUI was much quicker than I expected, with one cramp that hurt for a second. In the days following, my hubby and I were excited and eager to get results. Follow-up blood work looked good. I don't know if it was the hormones or wishful thinking, but my breasts hurt, I had to pee a lot, I was moody, I was nesting, I just knew that I must be pregnant. And then on day 26 I started spotting. I took two at-home PT's - negative! Very disappointed! Then my period started, so I didn't go for my scheduled PT. Instead I called the clinic and they told me that I still need to do the lab PT to get official results, if I want to start another cycle of IUI. It was hard not to cry at the lab, getting blood drawn when I knew I’m wasn’t pregnant. Bring on the comfort food!
Trying again now, added FSH to the process. First time that I ever had to inject myself -- the little bitty needle was less painful than plucking a hair. Let's hope this works! Please say a prayer for us.

I am new to this fertility thing, too. I have attempted IUI three times and none have been successful. I am starting to feel very discouraged. We are going to attempt IUI again next cycle and see what happens. The meds make me feel different and I feel like I am very moody while taking them.

Hello ladies. After six days of Follistim I went in for my ultrasound today. All looked "great" (as my dr said) so they gave me a 7th shot before leaving the office, tomorrow I take the Ovidrel, and Saturday we go in for the procedure. I have a busy day and forgot to ask what protocol is after this type of appointment. Any IUI success stories out there that may provide some motivation or an ounce of hope???!!
