I did my first IVF on 12/17/2010 the doctor put two embryos.
Ten days later I had a pregnancy test came out positive.
On January 19, 2011 I began to bleed and in the emergency room the doctor told me I had an a ectopic pregnancy and that was the reason of my bleeding. I'm still pregnant. Today I had done a Pelvic ultrasound done and I have 8 weeks and the heart was up to 171 heartbeats per minute. Someone has this happened? I am scared that I can have a miscarriage. The doctor said that everything is good.

Has anyone had to wear patches before starting the injections?

Hi everyone,
Im 33 years old and Im doing IVF for the first time, and I have so many emotions. I start my patches on Tuesday and start my injections on Thursday. My question is how does the patches and injections affect you? Do you see any change in your body or moods? I sooo excited, but scared at the same time!!!!

Oh... my doctor had me take the pill also. He had me stop after 21 days. In other words, I didn't take the inactive pills. When my cycle began, on day 2, I went in for blood and ultrasound. That evening, 1/6/11, I started the Lupron and the following morning, I started with Lupron, Follistim and Menopur.

I can understand your not being happy about that. It's a stressful and expensive process to go through. Hang in there. I'm sure it will work out this next cycle.

As for me, I went back yesterday and I was told that I have about 5 follicles measuring 15. They believe that I will probably be doing the trigger shot (HCG) by tomorrow or Saturday. Let's see. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi Tati,

No this is my first time doing IVF/meds. As i'm looking at some other posts I'm going a different route. What my Dr. had me do was to take Birth Control the month prior to me starting. So I started my BCP on day 1, then when my next cycle started i continued the pill until 1/3. First Lupron shot was 1/5, Follistim started on 1/6 and my 1st ultrasound was 1/11. So when she wasn't able to visualize my ovaries I felt really let down because i'm thinking hey there should be some follicles there. Did the blood work and it showed that I ovulated already. So now I have to start birth control again on day 1 of my period, take the last pill on 1/31 and i'm sure they will tell me what to do after that. So I've waisted 5 cartridges of Follistim which I'm not happy about. That was the most expensive of the meds

Were the ultrasound and blood work done on the second day of your period? That's when mine were done. I started the medications on the second day of my period, Thursday, January 6, 2011.

Don't be frustrated. Have you done fertility treatments in the past or is this your first?

Hello all,

I'm 42 y/o started follistim 300iu on 1/6 along with Lupron injection on 1/5. I had my 1st ultrasound on 1/11 and the Dr had a very hard time visualizing my ovaries. She told me that blood work would let her know exactly where I was and if she should be concerned as to why she didn't see any follicles. Got the call with bad news that I have already ovulated so I need to discontinue the follistim and Lupron and wait for my cycle to start before starting on the meds again.

I'm just so frustrated thinking this may be a sign that it will not be a good outcome for me. Any similar stories out there?
