hey stanley, it's also my first time and we're scheduled for next month. we started the shots 2 weeks ago and i gotta tell ya, it's not that bad. it stings for a second, but then goes away quickly. and it's worth it anyway, isn't it? we're really nervous too, but trying not to think about it. we start 2 new shots tomorrow and i feel like i'm turning into a pincushion! just hang in there...you're not alone!

It is my first time doing IVF as well. We are scheduled to do it next month. I haven't even started all the medications yet and am very nervous. Any suggestions?

I spoke with the nurse today and she said that going from 5 to 3 follicles after the beginning the meds is not unheard of. Going forward I should see more follicles. I will probably continue the medications for the next 5 or 6 days and then get the trigger shot for the retrieval. I'll keep you posted. I'm going to the doctor again tomorrow morning.
Don't get frustrated. I'm sure that everything will work out on your next cycle.

Hi Tati, not sure why you went from 5 to 3 follicles, but it does sound good to me that you at least had some follicles. what did they tell you was your next step was. check out my post, we started meds the same day but unfortunately my ultrasound did not show any follicles and my blood work showed that I had already ovulated

I am 42 years old and started my stimulation medications on the evening of Thursday, January 6, 2010. That was the second day of my cycle and my ultrasound should 5 follicles. I went back today for my second ultrasound and the technician told me she saw only three follicles. How could I have had 5 before starting stimulation and now I'm down to 3? Anyone have a similar experienc?
