Addis09.... I had the same experience. It was the worst pain of my life, horrible bloating too. I have had TWO surgeries and they didn't come close to how miserable I was. How many follicles did they retrieve, I had 22...which from what I hear was part of the problem.

Dear ladies - I see this was last Feb 09. But I just had my retrieval couple of days ago. Unfortunately it was a very bad experience. I went in and was out after IV but after the procedure had nasuea, pain in my stomach. Since then - I am bloated like a balloon to the extend that I can't walk normally.

I am trying to eat the minimum but still getting these stomach pains and gas that doesn't want to come out. Is that normal after the injections and my stomach is so sour and the injections are showing around my stomach by black, purple spots. Advise..did what to do..took x-gas and Zantic and not relief enough.

I also had to wait to do the retrevial because my eggs weren't how they wanted them to be. I had to wait 4 more days to do the procedure. When they finally did the retrevial they got 6 eggs. they ferterlized them all. Three died and they implanted 3 back in. unfortunately it didn't take. good luck to you.

Thanks Alex (that's my name too :-)
Apparently the medicine is not having the expected effect so instead of doing the retrieval as scheduled today, it will probably be next week... and they doubled the dosage... but the important is that even if slowly, it is working. HOPEFULLY :-))

I have also done the egg retrieval. I was put in a hospital gown and went into the room to do the retrieval. The dr came in to tell me exactly what would happen. I was given an IV and a minute later I was out, at least I don't remember anything. My husband told me after that I was talking during the procedure. After the retrieval, I stayed in the room for about a half hour. I got dressed and they wheeled me out to the car (in a wheelchair). I felt fine. We went out for breakfast after. I had no pain or adverse reaction to the IV. I continued to work the next day.

I have been through one retrieval with one doctor, and am sure that it varies from Doctor to Doctor. My retrieval was done at my Doctor's office as he has a surgical suite. They gave me a valium as I entered the doctor office to soothe me. I then dressed in a gown and they started an IV. I was put under a light anesthesia but it might as well have been heavy as I do not remember a thing!
I came out of the procedure quickly and my D.H. (Dear Husband) took me home immediately. I went home and slept while DH went to the pharmacy to fill my prescription for a pain killer and anti-nausea medicine. I did have some pain and cramping but nothing that kept me from returning to work the next day. The prescriptions were really not necessary, as Tylenol would have been sufficient. If your job is very active, or involves moderate to heavy lifting, you might need another day or two off work.

I am a few days away from it and I have a tons of questions popping through my mind. Does somebody have already had it? I will have a light full anesthesia... How long does it take to get fit again after?
