hopesforbaby I wish you the best of luck, we have been doing various treatments prior to the IVF, for 2 and a half years and I know how full of ups and downs it is. Our bodies are so amazing yet so unpredictable, on the flipside medical science knows so much but also sometimes it seems so little.

I have been doing lupron shots for 1 week now and my only side effect seems to be some breast tenderness. I get a quarter sized blotchy rash at the injection site for about half an hour afterward. Has anyone else experienced that?

I went to my dr apt today and my ivf treatment
Might be canceled I will find out Wednesday
I only have 2 follicles I'm hoping for the best
It was a very disappointing day

I take my first lupron shot this evening, this is our first IVF cycle and I go between being very nervous and happy to be doing something that has such a great success rate. I will be curious about the side effects of starting this medication. This is my first time looking at this site and it really is helpful to hear about others going through the same thing.

Hello,

We are new to the IVF process. We just received our medication in the mail and I was so overwhelmed with everything. Suddenly, I started worrying about the whole thing, are we going to do the shots properly? side effects? what if it doesn't work? would we want to go through all of this all over again?. We would not be starting the meds until the end of january, so I have a lot of time to stress about everything. Any words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated.

Hello I am 23 years old. I started the lepuron 5 days
Ago I am new to this whole ivf thing it is
Very overwhelming I don't know what to
Expect I am starting the follistim pen in
A few days I'm kinda nervous

11/26/2010 6:25 PM
I am in the middle of the process of shots. I am now doing Follistim, Menopur and Lupron. The Lupron shot was easy, just a little itchy right after but the Follistim/Menopur shot burns. I also noticed that I'm starting to bruise with this new shot. I haven't noticed any mood changes yet, I'll let you know after this first week! I just keep telling myself it will all be worth it at the end and that makes getting the shot much easier!! Ps. I don't give myself the shot, do you?

I see many of you have just recently started your IVF cycles, like myself. I've been trying to find some stories of how people are feeling day to day with their injections, what they're making them feel like, etc. but I'm not seeing many updates. Either that or I dont know my way around this site yet!

I just started Lupron 3 days ago and I'm so anxious and excited and its all I can think about. I'm not noticing any drastic mood changes with the Lupron as of today, but I have my "baseline" appt. in 2 days already! If anyone has blogged any day to day info on the meds, please let me know! Thanks and good luck to ALL OF YOU!

I've recently started a blog about my experiences with going through mini-IVF for the first time. Check it out if you think it might be helpful: http://open.salon.com/blog/midwestern_woman

This is our first time trying ivf. We have been trying for kids for 2 years now. I just started the birth control pills and go back to the dr in two weeks for test and than start shots. I'm really scared and nervous. I have a sis n law that is pregnant. I keep hearing about her pregnancy and stuff and than of course people ask about us. Im hoping this works the first time. Not sure how I can handle the baby shower and holidays if it doesn't. The dr gave a pretty good chance of it happening the first time.

Hello, We are getting ready to try IVF for the first time. The box of meds came 10/15. I cried when I opened it and saw just how many needles were in there. I do not do well with needles. I had lab work done today. We go tomorrow for the ultrasound and to learn how to do the injections I hope. We are expected to start injections 10/22 with retrieval 11/2 if all goes well. We both have fertility issues and I am 39 so the "odds" are low. I had both my tubes surgically removed in August in preparation for this. Both tubes were blocked so the doctor recommended having them removed due to my age and to increase the chance of success. As everyone says, you spend so many years trying not to get pregnant and then when you are ready you have no ides how hard it is. I hope everyone has success!

To Mary Kate,

My situation seems similar to yours and I am just wondering how things are going for you? I received "the magical box" yesterday and start this scary process on Oct 25th.

Hi Maria,

Thanks for responding. I am so nervous about the whole thing. I have two sons ages 18 and 20 but none with my current husband. So far the doctor has not had any thing negative to report and I hope it stays that way. Keep the faith and keep a positive attitude is what I have been trying to tell myself but it is hard to do. I will keep you informed with my progress. God Bless

This is my first time to post even though I have been viewing everyone's posts for awhile now. I am trying really hard to "relax", "keep my chin up", "stay positive" and all the other things my friends and family have been telling me. Had successful ivf a year ago, but unfortunately had a miscarriage in my 9th week. I have tried iui several times now and planning on ivf after the first of the year. I am 40 and dealing with all the comments like "you better hurry up because you are running out of time" or "why don't you just adopt?". My spirits are really down and my emotions are all over the place.

Hi Sabrina38,

Wow, I will also go see my Doc. on the 23rd and start my lupron on the 24th and I'm scheduled for egg retrieval the same week as you on 10/4. I'm a bit nervous, but my prayers for both of us. This is my first IVF and I am 40 yrs old and I do not have any children of my own. Though I do have 4 grown stepkids. Nervous, but I have faith things will go well. Best wishes to you Sabrina38.

Hi Ladies,
I am new to this site. I am 38 and this will be my first round of IVF. I am very nervous. I will have my baseline scans and labs done 9/23 and will start Follistim and Menopur on 9/26. My MD is planning retrieval the week of 10/4. I ask for your prayers during this time.

Hi, I was reading the posts and was upset that artlyn18 said to relax. It is hard to "just relax" when you are going through this process and I think when you say that to a person, it just makes them more nervous. I was a nervous wreck when I was going through IUI 3 years ago and I got pregnant. I am now trying to have a second child and have had five failed ivf's and a miscarriage. My advice is to be kind to yourself, treat yourself to a pedicure, etc. Also, talking to a counselor really has helped me through the process.

Greetings I'm new to this forum. You can call me Mary Kate.

We are beginning our first IVF cycle. Tomorrow I start Lupron with a plan for egg retrieval October 4-6. My husband and I got married in November of 2009 and began trying immediately. By February we were trying with Clomid, did one IUI, and after finding a male infertility factor (low motility and high abnormal rate in his guys) it was recommended that we go directly to IVF. I'm 40 and he's 28 and neither of us has had children before, and we haven't had any miscarriages at all, just all BFN's. I've not even taken a pregnancy test because my period just seemed to start right on time.

I just received a big box of all the injectibles today, and it all seems to make sense, so that seems ok. I'm interested in how many people have a fresh cycle immediately, and how many wait for FET after PGD, which seems to be the recommendation for anyone over 40.

I am starting my second round of IVF in a week. Very nervous. First one only produced 4 follicles, 2 of them stopped growing and my uterine lining went backwards. Very hard to let that one go, this time we are being more aggressive. I have a very low AMH, or egg quality and they are trying to just produce more eggs in hopes they will get a good one. I thought that 4 would have been enough. Very hard. Nothing I can really do but relax and try to think good thoughts. I am 42, so age is not on my side.

Just went through my first round- thought my post might help you- It's called Meditation helps with stress

9/8/2010 5:43 PM
I am also very nervous. This will be my firs IVF and don't know what to expect. I start my meds on sept. 23rd and doctor is scheduling my egg retrivel the week of Oct 4th. Any advise?

9/8/2010 5:31 PM
IVF worked for me on the first try. I am 8 months pregnant and due October 21st. Good luck. I hope it works for you too. Biggest piece of advice I can give is learn to relax. It will help a lot.

7/21/2010 11:23 AM
Two of my friends have recently done the IVF and one worked on the first time for one of my friends and the other had to do it twice. One now has a five month old and the other is 6 months pregnant so hopefully you will have a good turn out also! I started the Meds last month and had to stop before I got done with the Leupron b/c it was making my ovaries swollen. So now I have to wait 6-8 weeks and start all over on a different med. instead of Leupron, it is very stressfull and emotional having to start all overagain. I know you are so excited to finally start the process and im sure it will al go great
