Welcome Leilah & klk.....Congrats on both of your pregnancies! Donor egg is a great way to go and is truly a gift. I was one of the first on this forum to go that route and was successful on our first try with twin boys. Long story, but I lost them at almost 23 weeks. We still have 2 frozen embies so getting ready to try again soon. Please feel free to join us on the "General Discussion" page as where that is where most of the posts are. Nice to have you aboard and congrats to you both again!

This is my first time posting, even though I've been following some of the stories here for a long time. I don't check the forum too often, so here's over a year of my story clumped into one message in case it may help someone who's having similar experiences.
Our infertility treatment started Jan. of '09, I'm 40 now and after many months of disappointments and cancellations of cycles we finally had our 1st complete IVF cycle in May and I am 7wks 5d. pregnant now.
It's been a difficult & costly journey; it started with 4 trials of Clomid, then went on to only 1-IUI, after which we didn't want to waste any more time due to my age & moved to IVF. However, every time we were about to go into a possible IVF cycle (after all the Ganirelix, Lupron & Menopur injections) our 4 possible trial cycles of IVF wound up getting cancelled. So I was never truly able to get to an actual IVF due to persistent cysts forming in either one or both of my ovaries. Each time we waited until the cysts would slowly dissipate while I was put on a BC pill and eventually time passing by & with each month me getting older, my endocrinologist had a hard time to get me to produce even one egg.
There was one possibility for an IVF exactly a year ago, when I produced 2 eggs & had no cysts, but we still had to cancel bec. my husband's sperm motility & quantity went down the drain. This happened bec. our family doctor hearing that we were trying to have a baby put him on Androgel for 6 mo's prior to that, due to his testosterone lvl. being slightly lower. In turn, not knowing that this medication also affects sperm count & quality. I couldn't believe that the only time we could have had tried with my own eggs was lost bec. of one doctor's misinformation. It took another 3 months of being off of Androgel patch, until my husband's sperm finally resumed back to normal.
With my age not in my favor, we had to take the next step & go with an Egg Donor. At first it was dissapointing to me and my husband to have had to resort to this and we even grieved for my biological child that could never be. But then we just learned to accept the reality, moved on, and after choosing a donor this Feb. I was very comfortable with this process & our IVF was scheduled for May. We were lucky in finding a donor who looks like myself (she even has same interests & similar personality), the only difference being 3" shorter, but it was very exciting to have found at least a mini me. We now have some frozen embryos for any future trials.
The hurdles however don't seem to be over yet, bec. at exactly 6wks. & again at 7wks. I experienced quite a lot of vag. bleeding - very scary experience, but I must admit it was my own fault bec. once I picked up a small suitcase when we visited my mom & the other time some stacks of magazines. Good lesson learned - never pick up anything even though you may think it's not too heavy. Fortunately there were no cramps accompanying the bleeding, so the embryo is still viable and we even heard a strong heartbeat. I still have 2.5 wks of progesterone injections to go, of which I was completely terrified, but they're OK if you poke the needle in quickly. I hope that things go well throughout the rest of my pregnancy.
In the meantime, I wish all of you hopefuls, a lot of patience and perseverance. Keeping you in my prayers.

We have just started our first cycle - first Lupron injection was this morning. I am encouraged to hear of first time successes - I am 44 and receiving donor eggs so the pricetag is very scary.

Hello everyone. I just wanted to say congrats to the first time IVF girls. I actually got pregnant the first time as well. I had a tubal factor also. So it can happen. I am now 21 weeks and everything is going as planned. Just remain positive and it will all work out in the end. We found out we are having a boy. I think the only hard part were the injections for the 14 weeks after I found out I was pregnant. Those hurt really bad. But it was all so worth it. We have one more embryo that we have frozen and plan to try for another one at some point in time. I will be just happy with this little bundle of joy. His name is going to be Dante Michael. Very excited. It is really rewarding for everyone that has tried so hard to get pregnant and with todays modern technology it does happen.
Best wishes to all of you who are going through the IVF Process. It is not an easy task but there is nothing like hearing a heart beat and seeing that baby inside of you!!

First time IVF. I received my BFP through beta results four days before my scheduled pregnancy test. I have tubal factors but everything else was great. I am only 4 weeks but confident this pregnancy will survive. Positive / Happy thoughts got me this far and will continue.

I did my first round of IVF in April. Today I am 11 weeks pregnant. It can happen, but I am still very nervous because there is such a low possibility of success that the dr's tell you. All I can say it just keep positive, make sure you rest and take it easy and do exactly what the doctors tell you. My infertility issues were male factor and I think that helped me because all signs pointed to me being ok.
Baby dust to you!

I have not tried IVF, but I have been on the follistim for 4 months (this is my 4th month). I tried the follistim and then natural conception the first 3 months. This month I am trying the IUI. I am hoping this works.
